Pheromones, human pheromones, romance has never been easier

Pheromones are naturally-occurring substances that a fertile body excretes externally, and actually conveys as an airborne messenger to trigger a response from the opposite sex. Human pheromones have been a topic of clinical studies for years and research actually started back in 1959.  Pheromones were found to be excreted by animals to trigger a reproductive behavioral response from an animal of the same species.  Dr. Winnifred Cutler, who is the founder of the Athena Institute, in 1986 actually conducted the first controlled, scientific experiment to document the existence of pheromones in humans.  From her series of experiments, she actually defined pheromones as a chemical excreted by animals that promotes behaviors which perpetuate the species.

Humans have for years tried to cover up body odor by putting on pleasant scents.  Humans have over the years manufactured attractive-smelling perfumes that include animal sex pheromones such as civet, ambergris and musk. These pheromones are chemicals that affect behaviors such as communication, reproduction in animals, and sexual activity. Through the rigors of scientific study, it is only been fairly recently that scientists have found human pheromones to be to play a significant role in attraction between the opposite sexes.

Scientists have also found that pheromones from other species may or may not affect humans in the same way that it does affect that particular species.  Over the years, humans have become curious about their own olafactory systems and have produced numerous human pheromones in the form of various products including perfumes and colognes.  Through scientific study and literature released in 2005, science has recognized four classes of pheromones, territorial markers, mother-infant, human sex attractant pheromones, and menstrual synchrony.
